Our Expertise
We offer comprehensive sharpening services for a variety of tools:
Scissors: We sharpen all types of scissors, including kitchen, dressmaker, upholstery, pet grooming, and hairdressing scissors. Each pair is dismantled, cleaned, inspected for damage, and sharpened using either a Hamaguri or profile linisher system.
Knives: Our knife sharpening services cater to commercial kitchens, domestic cooks, hunters, and enthusiasts. We ensure all knives are sharpened to a hair-splitting edge, including Japanese single bevel and serrated knives.
Chainsaw Chains: We sharpen all chain gauges, including steel and tungsten tip, using a high-quality Maxx machine built in Italy. Grinding of chain rakers is included in the price.
Clipper Blades: Utilizing The Shop Inc. automated clipper blade sharpening machine and a specialist-designed 21-inch wheel clipper machine, we sharpen all types of grooming and hair clipper blades. Each blade is meticulously reassembled with new glide strips and thoroughly tested for tension and sharpness.
Clipper Machine Servicing: We provide servicing for clipper machines, including dismantling, cleaning, inspection, and replacement of parts if required. Most replacement parts are carried in stock for major brands like Andis, WAHL, Heiniger, and Oster.
Pet Dryer Servicing: We also service pet dryers from brands such as Double K, Mango, Lazor RX, and Aeolus.
How do you send your items for sharpening?
Items for sharpening can be posted or conveniently dropped off at our workshop.
Current turnaround is generally 7–14 business days from the time your items are received. Many orders are completed sooner; however, this timeframe allows us to maintain the high standard of workmanship and care Mat’s Sharpening is known for. If your job is urgent, please contact Mat prior to sending to discuss availability.
When posting your items, please include your name, return address, phone number, and email address to ensure smooth processing and prompt return delivery.
We recommend using Express Post for faster transit times. Return postage will be charged at current Australia Post rates.
An invoice will be issued once sharpening is complete. Payment is required prior to your items being returned.

How do you send your items for sharpening?
